Allison Wolfe Joins Me and Exene

The extremely good news is that Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile, Cold Cold Hearts, Cool Moms, Original Grrrrl) has been added to the Queens of Noise bill at the Los Angeles Public Library. The bad news: The event “sold out” within hours. Still, keep checking the site for standby tickets or come early that night and hope to grab a seat.

Kim Fowley Book Party

As many reviewers have noted, Kim Fowley is one of the most compelling characters in Queens of Noise. He’s the only one who gets his own chapter, and that just barely scratches the surface of his strange life story. Kim himself is spreading his memoirs out over three books. La Luz De Jesus gallery is celebrating the launch of the first volume, Lord of Garbage, October 5 at 7 p.m. Kim spent the summer bedridden from bladder cancer surgery; it’s great to see that he’s back on his feet, and I know for a fact illness hasn’t slowed or mellowed him one bit. I’m sure the Legendary Hustler will provide an entertaining evening.

Book Frog Tomorrow!

I’m looking forward to reading at one of my favorite Southland independent book stores, the Book Frog, tomorrow at 2 p.m. I’m taking requests; anyone have a favorite part of Queens of Noise they want me to read?
