Kesha Sues Producer Over Alleged Abuse

Last night, I heard a story about a young musician who was taken advantage of by her older, male collaborator — in the indie rock world, not a pop star like Kesha. If these charges by Kesha are true (and I’m going to guess they are; she’s filed a lawsuit, after all), they’re a sad testament to the state of the music business, 30 plus years after the Runaways.

Girl Power

Girl rights advocate Malala Yousafzi won the Nobel Peace Prize, at 17 the youngest recipient ever. And pioneering rocker Joan Jett, along with her band the Blackhearts, was nominated for the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame again. Yesterday was a good day.
