The more I found out about Laurie Hoyt/McAllister, the more I wish I had managed to find her before she died last week. She sounded like a true individual, a young rebel free spirit — a lot like Sandy West. She lived with notorious Dutch rock/artist Herman Brood in Amsterdam, cocktail waitressed in the red light district, lived a radical but rough life. Died of asthma at a Sublime concert. RIP Laurie.
The Times was holding my obit for a photo; they finally ran it without. The beautiful image here is by Laurie’s friend Mickey Stellavato. Thanks Mickey.
You’re welcome. She was truly an individual and she had a huge heart, which got her into trouble at times. Nice to see this image floating in cyberspace. Thanks for the credit.
